West Conference Championships

The Glebe Gryphons dominated the West Conference Championships at Walter Baker Park in Kanata, winning the Boys, Girls and Overall Aggregates in convincing fashion.

Glebe won all three girls races, sweeping the medals in the Senior Girls race (Smith, Marshall and Livingstone), the top 2 spots in the Midget Girls race (Weston, Rhead), while the Junior Girls team placed 7 runners in the top 10 (and 10 in the top 14).  Glebe also captured the Junior and Senior Boys team titles.

East Conference Championships

The Canterbury girls sent a message that they are out in force to defend their NC Championship team title in 2014.  After finishing 1 - 2 - 3 at last years East Conference Championships, this year the Chargers went 1 - 2 - 4 - 5 (Stenman-Fahey, Codrington, Leckie and Dolan) for a near perfect score of 12 points.

Lisgar won the Overall Aggregate by just a single point over runner up Ashbury, along with the Boys Aggregate, while Colonel By won the Girls Aggregate by a single point over Canterbury.

Glebe wins Turkey Trot

The Glebe Gryphons put on a strong performance at the 7th edition of the Turkey Trot winning 5 of 6 races, every race except the Midget Boys, taking both the team titles and individual honours (and the Turkey) in each race.  Glebe's Junior Boys and Junior Girls put up the most impressive numbers, with Teagan Harris, Finn Perreault, Pierre Grall and Evan Kealey finishing 1 - 3 - 4 - 5 for a meager 13 points, while Keili Shepherd won the Junior Girls race with her teammates taking places 4th - 8th (Grimes, Millar, Larkin, C. Wright and E. Wright) with only 12 seconds separating the group of 5 chasing Gryphons.  Nepean won the Midget Boys race, giving NC schools a clean sweep of the events.

Pirates Invitational

The Nepean Knights placed fourth overall at the Pirates Invitational in Brockville on Friday, Oct 3rd.  The Knights had strong runs from their Midget teams as the Midget Boys won and the Midget girls captured silver, while their Junior Boys team placed 4th.

Louis Riel's Jonathan Rioux had the top individual finish for NC athletes, placing second in the Midget Boys.  The Day family had a pair of 4th place finishes with Natalie placing 4th in the Midget Girls race while her brother Owen, the defending OFSAA Junior Boys XC Champion, was 4th in the Senior Boys race.

Expect many more NC schools in action this week as Louis Riel hosts their annual Invite on the East Conference Course at the Hornet's Nest on Tuesday, while St. Michael's (Kemptville) host the Turkey Trot on Thursday.  Information about these events is available on the Glebe XC page.

Gryphons place fourth at Roy Griak

The  Gryphon Girls placed 4th at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota on the weekend.  The Gryphons got strong runs from Mei Mei Weston (who was the top freshman in the race finishing 6th), Alexa Livingstone (19th) and Katherine Marshall (29th), to score 204 points, just 32 points shy of a podium finish.  The race was won by the 3rd ranked team in the United States, Saugus, from California with 75 points.

The Gryphon Men only had four finishers in the race, as the  conditions claimed several runners, (30 C with 98% humidity at race time) led by Teagan Harris, who placed 53rd.

Gryphons make it Two in a Row

The Glebe Gryphons made it two for two winning their home meet the Gryphon Open.  Glebe teams won the Midget Girls and Junior Girls race, placing second in the Senior Girls, Senior Boys and Junior Boys races as well.

Defending OFSAA champion Shona McCulloch (Longfields-Davidson) opened her season with an impressive win, taking the Junior Girls 4.2K race in convincing fashion almost a mintue ahead of her closest pursuer.  It was not the largest margin of victory of the day however as Senior Boy John Pettigrew (Renfrew) posted a 1:07 win over his teammate, Sam Agnew.

Glebe wins Trinity Invitational

The defending OFSAA Overall Girls Champions got the 2014 Harrier season off to a good start winning all three girls races at the prestigious Trinity Invitational in Port Hope, leading the Gryphons to the Overall team title 13 points ahead of Thousand Islands (Brockville) and last years OFSAA Overall Boy's Champs, St. Michael's College (Toronto).

The most dominant performance of the day came in the Junior Girls race as Glebe placed 6 runners in the top 10, behind individual champ Keili Shepherd, and 8 in the top 24, taking both first and second spots in the team competition.   Teagan Harris (Glebe) was the only other individual champion from the NC Region, winning the Junior Boys race.

RESULTS
